Portland roses belong to a bygone era. Most interest derives from a historical perspective
since they were the first to incorporate the repeat flowering habit of the Chinas. While
only a few varieties of Portland roses are commercially available, they have stood the
test of time and earned their place in the garden. Portland roses offer remontantancy,
compact disease resistant upright shrubs, stay relatively small (3-4 feet) and bloom with
Old Rose character, in both form and fragrance. Colors tend to be pink range, including
darker, almost scarlet blooms. |
