Climbing roses generally have larger flowers than rambling roses and are remontant, although some only bloom in summer. They usually have stiffer canes and do not tend to grow as tall as ramblers. While many are fragrant and disease resistant, some have lost the sweet perfume of the older varieties through hybridizing, and are more susceptible to blackspot than the older ramblers. In spite of these weaknesses, you may wish to provide them a space in your garden for their heritage value.
